June 15-22 is World Action Week Against Gun Violence. Venezuela has one of the highest per capita firearms-related homicide rates in the world, and continues to skyrocket statistically, increasing from 2,474 homicides in 1990 (population 19.7mil) to 12,257 homicides in 2006 (population 27 mil).
